We held class last night at the Charles Taylor Arts Center. A really enjoyable class with guest speaker Bob Schamerhorn.
Bob lives in Richmond, is a graphic designer and avid birder. Although this was his first presentation to a photo club, he regularly presents at local nature themed events. After a slide show portraying the many species he has captured in his own back yard, he shared with us how to add a water feature to our backyards to further attract and encourage both resident and migratory birds to visit. As an avid birder myself I was intrigued, but after seeing all the close-up shots that really allow you to see their personalities I quickly ordered the book.. (looks like it will keep Gene busy this weekend…) It was also great to learn some of his techniques and about his gear, although now I have to sell my 100-400mm in favor of a 400mm prime, which Bob assured me will be worth it..so the zoom is going up on ebay today :)
If you missed last nights class, you can check out Bob’s website HERE or his facebook page HERE. Hopefully we will be able to schedule him again next year for another presentation. If you would like to build your own water feature, you can purchase and download his book HERE for only $8.95
